This Privacy Policy explains how Index Informatics Systems Pvt. Ltd. ("Index, "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use the Index Cloud mobile apps (Android/iOS) and web app (together, the "Services"). This Policy applies to users in India only.

Index Cloud lets residential owners, installers/partners, and enterprises view solar system production remotely by connecting the system to Wi-Fi.
Mandatory: phone number, email (for registration, authentication, and problem notifications)
Optional: installer/dealer code (to manage multiple sites), address & country/region, language
Identifiers created by us: app account ID
Collected: IP address (deleted after session), time zone, OS version, device model, browser/app info
Wi-Fi context: SSID/BSSID/MAC (where available), Wi-Fi status and signal strength, to confirm the system is online and transmitting data accurately
Crash & performance logs: collected to improve stability (optional in settings)
Not collected: hardware advertising IDs (OAID/IDFA), other virtual IDs unless we introduce them later (we currently do not use them)
Precise location: only if you opt in (e.g., for plant creation or navigation)
Map providers: Google Maps and Apple Maps
Plant name/type/location, installed capacity
Inverter/meter telemetry: real-time power, generation/consumption, battery charge/discharge, import/export kWh
Fault codes, events, timestamps
Device serial numbers and model details
Clipboard/OTP read: only for one-time passwords during registration/login; handled on-device and not stored.
Minimum age: 14+. If we become aware that a child under 14 used the Services without required consent, we'll delete associated data.
Provide and operate the Services (account creation, telemetry display, remote viewing) — contract necessity

We do not run ads and do not sell personal data.
Location: create plant, navigation — optional, can be disabled
Camera: scan QR codes / add photos — optional (you can enter serial numbers manually)
Photos/Media/Storage: firmware/log downloads, avatar upload — basic app necessity
WLAN / Nearby devices: connect system to Wi-Fi for remote view — required for that feature
Notifications: alerts for offline devices/faults/parameter changes — optional
Bluetooth / Phone/Call / Auto-start/background: not required (app does not run in background)
You can grant/revoke any optional permission in your device settings. Some features may not function without related permissions.

We only share personal data:
We do not use third-party SDKs for analytics, ads, push, or DNS at this time. If that changes, we'll update this Policy and list each SDK, purpose, and data types.
If you share a plant, only the data you choose (e.g., telemetry; optionally location) is shown to the invited user(s). You can stop sharing at any time in the app.

We do not routinely transfer personal data outside India. If that changes, we will implement appropriate transfer safeguards and update this Policy.
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit/at rest, access controls, and internal audits. If a data incident occurs, we will notify affected users by email and comply with applicable law.
Default retention (account/telemetry/logs): up to 2 years or as required by law.
After deletion request/account closure: we complete deletion within 30 days, retaining only what we must for legal/compliance purposes.
IP addresses: deleted after the session ends.

The Services are for users 14+.

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll notify you in-app, by email, or via a website banner and update the "Last updated" and "Effective" dates above. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Policy.
